Hi every one. Today I would like to show you my favourite menu when I was young which is sweet & sour sauce. Since I was a kid , I really loved having tomatoes and carrots, I can have those vegetables every meal. So my mum always cooked sweet & sour chicken for me.
When I grow up, I wasn't so crazy for this recipe like before but I cooked this recipe quite often. Normally I cooked this recipe as Rob's lunch box because he likes sauce hehe.
Today I would like to make it in a little bit different way because the sauce that I cooked tastes a bit spicy. If you think this looks too spicy for you, just cut it off chilli from the recipe. So let's get started.
Ingredients ( for 2 persons)
1. 250 g chicken fillet
2. 1 carrot , roughly sliced
3. 1/2 onion, roughly sliced
4. 1/2 green bell pepper, roughly sliced
5. 1 chilli ( I use goat chilli because it's not so spicy) , sliced
6. 1 tomatoes, roughly diced
7. 3 tablespoons ketchup
8. 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
9. 1/2 tablespoon light soy sauce
10. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
11. 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder
12. 3 tablespoons water
13. 1 tablespoon cooking oil
14. Salt & white pepper
Instructions
1. Add a little bit of salt and white pepper on chicken, then grill it by any method you want. Just make sure that the chicken's inner temperature reaches to 74 degree Celsius ( 165 F).
2. Mix ketchup, oyster sauce, light soy sauce , brown sugar, chilli powder and water together, set aside.
3. On a frying pan, heat an oil with medium heat. Stir fry onion for a few minute. Add carrot and bell pepper then stir fry for couple minutes.
4. Add tomatoes, chilli and the mixture in 2). Reduce a heat to a simmer for around 5 minutes. And yes it's done.
5. Pour the sauce on top of the chicken. Served with rice.
I know that the sauce that I showed you is not an old-style sweet and sour sauce because I modified the sauce recipe from Thai chicken wing with red sauce. But I can guarantee that this recipe is very yummy. Don't forget to tell me how about the taste when you try this at home.
